Eden Stieber, born in Pennsylvania, is currently located in Philadelphia, where she received her BFA in photography from University of the Arts. Her work is documentary based and focuses on the people and spaces around her through portraiture, and photographs of the mundane scenery in her hometown. She has recently been taking her documentary approach and including the theme of ‘memory’ into her work. Eden shows an interest in memory and how people process it differently. Incorporating the concept of memory into her work first began in 2019, when she was getting frustrated with the lack of memory she had about her own childhood. The more she was thinking about how memory could be incorporated into her photography, the more she realized how photography can be used as a tool to capture different memories. With this thought in mind, her new approach to producing work is to use the camera to create and keep a memory. She came upon the comparison between creating a memory with photography, and using photography as a tool to go back to, or reminisce, a past event. This comparison is now helping Eden shift most of her work towards memory and reminiscing on childhood.

Eden’s work is available for exhibition or purchase.
